Trip Focus:  Community Service/Food Pantry (Student Ministry)

Alaska Summer Mission Trip: June 23 - June 30, 2024

OHC team partners with Graceworks to bring the Good News of Jesus to those who have yet to experience New Life in Jesus. Our Alaska Summer 2024 short term mission team will have the opportunity to make a tangible, lasting difference by working directly with unchurched children, youth, and adults in local public parks. Our team of volunteers will help people in need by offering meals to the hungry, Bible Lessons, recreation, games, and crafts. Our partnerships with local churches make this all possible.

Alaska Itinerary (Tentative)

Sunday, 6/23: Depart San Antonio and arrive in Anchorage, Alaska

Monday- 6/24 - 6/29 (TBD)

Saturday - 6/30: We will see wild Alaskan critters at the Wildlife Conservation Center, boat to the towering face of majestic Portage Glacier, and take a short, easy hike to a snowfield that you can actually play in. Even in July!(Saturday fun activities such as the Portage Glacier cruise are optional, and expenses are to be paid separately).

Sunday 6/30: Fly back to San Antonio

Trip Details:

Trip Cost: $1,950. Land cost is $1,000; all inclusive: meals, lodging, in-country transportation, insurance, bottled water, ministry supplies, etc. Airfare cost is $950; OHC MUST arrange all Airfare travel.

The Alaska team will fly from San Antonio to Anchorage, Alaska. While in Alaska, the team will serve with our missionary partner, Graceworks, taking part in service projects as well as work with children and youth. With GraceWorks, Alaska you become an essential member of the Alaskan community, making lasting impressions on its people. We prioritize personal connections ensuring our volunteers engage directly with unchurched children, youth and adults in local communities.

Place of Stay: We provide comfortable housing, all meals, transportation, staff hosting, airport transfers, and most of the supplies for the mission. We provide the team with well-maintained 15-passenger vans for the week, and handle all logistics.

Trip Orientation/Team Meetings: We will have several Team meetings prior to our trip. We will provide you with a Team Informational Packet at the 1st Team Meeting. Team Meetings are required and will focus on building team unity, learning about the culture of Alaska, and discuss and plan for our service as a team.
