COLSON FELLOWS PROGRAM
God’s Word places a spotlight on the uniqueness of every person because we are created in the image of God and for a relationship with God. In Genesis, we see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit creating humanity to be God’s representatives on earth and to lovingly steward the world God created. Everything changed when Adam and Eve rejected God’s command. They followed their own desire, which brought sin and death into the world. Yet, Jesus entered creation as the perfect man and perfect sacrifice to bring forgiveness, redemption, and restoration for all. As followers of Jesus, we are called to bear God’s image, to oversee His creation, and to shape our culture for God’s glory.
Through Colson Fellows, believers are equipped through Gospel-centered discipleship to courageously engage in culturally relevant conversations from a biblical perspective. Questions and confusion abound in a world marked by sin. Our church and our surrounding community need Christians who love the people around them enough to prepare for meaningful conversations. This is our calling. Peter instructs us to “be ready to give an answer for the hope that we have” (I Peter 3:15). The people around us are wrestling with questions about life’s biggest questions: Who am I? Why am I here? What’s true, real, right, and wrong? We wrestle with questions about how I should live when life is confusing, frightening, or full of conflict? What does Christianity have to say when my friend tells me her daughter was born in the wrong body? Or when issues like racism, sexism, or scientism come up in everyday conversations? Or when I struggle with knowing and finding my purpose?
Colson Fellows is a whole-life discipleship journey through which ordinary Christians come together to learn to engage in culturally relevant conversations with increased awareness and practical application through biblical wisdom, cultural theology, and a Christian worldview. A worldview with Christ at the center provides the foundation from which conversations about gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and ethics lead to a deeper understanding of how God designed each person for a relationship with him. You’ll find community, challenge, and spiritual formation as you engage with a small group of Christians who are committed to reaching our culture.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”
Colossians 3:16
OVERVIEW
Beginning in August, Colson Fellows-in-Training follow a carefully curated curriculum that will help you understand and identify worldviews and how various worldviews influence our time through the ideas and practices absorbed through education, media, and music.
You will learn how to analyze and understand the times in which we live as we examine current cultural flashpoints on identity, meaning, purpose, and belonging from a biblical perspective. Finally, the Colson Fellows-in-Training will examine “calling” and guide you in developing a “Personal Ministry Plan” that will help you discover your calling and identify your unique gifts and sphere of influence.
