The San Antonio Food Bank is carefully monitoring developments regarding the community spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). We are partnering with Feeding America, the network of 200 food banks, and local partners to ensure the safest handling of food and distributions to our communities while assessing innovative ways to meet the evolving needs. You can keep updated on our efforts HERE

The San Antonio Food Bank is facing unprecedented demand due to the ongoing pandemic. They have put out a fresh call for volunteers to help in several ways:
  • Crisis Relief Food Distributions. Need for loaders, registration and traffic control at various food distribution sites (See below); and at smaller on-site distributions at the Food Bank Warehouse.
  • Warehouse volunteers for sorting and packing food.
  • Harvesting and boxing of fresh produce at their Urban Farm at Mission San Juan on Saturdays.
You can register to volunteer as an individual or with a small group (up to 10 people Specific dates/times, details and registration links for all of these opportunities be done through their online calendar HERE

Distributions @ SA Food Bank
Although we have been facilitating ongoing distributions at the SA Food Bank since the start of our COVID-19 Crisis Response we hadn’t opened this shift up for volunteer support due to the generous assistance of the National Guard. Sadly their time with us is coming to an end. Starting July 14 we will have a daily afternoon volunteer shift Tues – Friday to help distribute food similar to our mega distributions but at a much smaller scale. Farm Fresh Saturday’s are still happening through July. Registration for both HERE.
