Healthy Groups

Healthy Groups - Representing Christ

There are five expressions that represent Christ in healthy small groups (community).  These expressions are seen first in Jesus himself, the Church and in Christian community (small groups).  These expressions are Missional in Outreach, Visionary in Impact, Sharing the Good News, Caring for One Another and Growing Together in Christ.

For healthy small groups it is important that all expressions are represented.  Traditional small groups are often primarily Bible studies led by a Bible study leader.  These groups are good to help people grow together in Christ but to grow toward a healthy maturity, it is important that all five expressions are represented, not just one.

Some people might lean toward one expression more than another.  That is why we need community.  We need all expressions represented in community.  Everyone involved, everyone contributing, everyone engaged in seeking Christ together so that we can go together making disciples.

Therefore, at Oak Hills Church we equip toward health:

See below for descriptions for the five expressions.

  • Jesus commanded us to GO and make Disciples in the Great Commission (Mt. 28:19,2))
  • As a Church that plants Churches we believe in that God’s kingdom is intended to grow, as ambassadors of Christ we should be bringing the message of reconciliation to new people and places.
  • Small groups spawn new groups regularly though the identification of new leaders and multiplication.
